How everything began ...

Im December 1967 the newly wed couple Barbara and Raimund (married September 16th, 1967) acquired the Guest House on the Panider Sattel.

In 1968 the first rooms were built and the Familie Mahlknecht – now already larger due to the birth of their first daughter Helga – moved into the first, only half-finished house.

The following year Raimund built six rooms, with help of a sketchy draft and privately hired worker. Each room had its own shower and toilet. In the attic there were four more rooms which had a shared bath and two toilets.

The first guests arrived after Christmas in 1969.  The official opening of the Guest House Panider Sattel was in 1970.

During the first years Barbara continued her work as a teacher while Raimund tried, between cooking and woodcarving, to raise the family, which had now grown to four children –  Stephan (1969), Erna (1972), Ulrike (1974) and Agnes (1978).

In 1986 there was major reconstruction. In record time, only 3.5 months, a cellar was built under the house. Additionally, the bar, dining room, and kitchen were completely remodeled.

In Spring of 1995 all the rooms were completely rennovated. After only four months, it was possible to re-open the hotel and simultaneaously celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The Continuation ...

On April 17th, 2004 Karin and Stephan got married. Today they are in charge of the hotel. Later Niklas (April 6th, 2006) and Janis (Feb. 24th, 2008) were born- the next generation of the Mahlknecht Family.

In Spring 2008 an extensive expansion was started. New rooms were added, and the dining and bar areas, as well as the lobby were completely renewed. All this was finished within a six-week construction period...
